Job Description

If you are a law school graduate, have passed the bar exam, and have experience in estate planning, you may be an excellent addition to our drafting company. We are looking for a highly analytical candidate with good time management and reasoning skills, as we have estate plan drafts that need to be reviewed and finalized for attorneys in our drafting program. The primary task for this position is reviewing, editing, and finalizing drafts in accordance with the attorneys' firm preferences and the client's requests. If this sounds like you, please apply!

  • This position is fully remote.
  • Business hours are generally weekdays between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM MT. Work hours may be split between business hours and after-hours as needed.
  • The Estate Planning Draft Reviewer will provide a reliable computer at their own expense and a work environment conducive to undivided attention for both draft reviews and the occasional remote calls with drafting team as needed.
  • We will provide the Estate Planning Draft Reviewer with access to member-attorneys' chosen drafting software, a business email address, Microsoft Office, and user licenses to our software platforms that facilitate our workflow and systems.
  • This position will begin on an as-needed basis and anticipated hours to start are around 5-15 hours per week, although on any given week, the workload would fluctuate up or down depending on volume. Pay is negotiable depending on experience and quality of references.
Responsibilities:
  • Review first drafts of estate plans for accuracy and appropriate legal language in accordance with the data attorneys and clients provide, with a one- or two-business-day turnaround time
  • Offer custom legal language for client wishes that do not neatly fit within drafting software interviews
  • Catch and correct both small and large errors that a first estate plan draft might contain
  • Review trust diagrams to match each client's trust selections
  • Eloquently summarize any substantial changes to any first draft for team's review and edification to help us refine our overall drafting process and to prevent the same or similar mistakes from recurring
  • Use our operational systems to keep team informed of your progress and stay up to date on our standard operating procedures, as those may be updated over time, and openly communicate any inefficiencies or areas you notice in our processes so that we may incrementally improve our service over time
  • Be flexible, attentive, communicative, and courteous at all times in all interactions with the team, attorneys, and their staff
Qualifications:
  • Law degree from an accredited U.S. institution
  • Must have worked in the estate planning field for at least two years
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines with quick turnaround times
  • Proficiency with MS Office products is expected
  • Drafting experience in WealthDocx, ElderDocx, Adapt, and/or Interactive Legal is highly preferred
  • An attorney's license is recommended but not required
  • A 4-year degree with a legal background and a J.D. degree are necessary for this position
  • Must have worked on estate planning and probate law issues for at least 1-2 years
  • Wide range of knowledge regarding estate planning-related topics
  • Strong communication skills, particularly in fast-paced situations
  • Active member of the ABA recommended, but not required
