'Large portion of people are disengaged from education and need training’
Keen on staying informed by reading the papers or watching the news with well-known figures? Why not understand what is happening daily through the eye of those amazing people who are doing their best to improve our community but still remain unknown?
FMB Radio’s Digital Storytelling focuses on sharing the stories of these people.
Last week we had the chance to interview a local charity organization named The Bridges Community Trust and meet with John, their senior employment advisor. This local group focuses on helping people and communities in the Meadows, Clifton and surrounding areas with only a handful of employees. Their two main field of expertise are community-based work and the local council’s employment support program. John told us amazing stories of their work of how they helped young people who got disengaged from education to find their path and be happy with where they are and how they helped people to grow and change into who they always aspired to be. He also explained that because of the variety of training that’s available locally, they are able to support anyone who is unemployed, not in education and not in training to find the best possible way to solve or improve their situation. The Bridges Community Trust not only guides and helps individuals overcome the many barriers they face but further assists many other local organizations with their advertising and funding applications as well as taking part in organizing and supporting great Nottingham based events. They do a lot for people living in the areas as they know a large portion of residents have been affected by austerity cuts and need guidance.
