Job Description

Job Summary:


The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the decontamination, high-level disinfection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of clean and sterile surgical instruments, trays, and pans. This includes inspecting instruments, operating sterilizers, maintaining equipment, and ensuring quality assurance of sterile supplies.

Location:New York, United States

Responsibilities:


- Inspects, assembles, packages, and sterilizes surgical instrument pans, procedural trays, technical equipment, and surgical case carts.
- Operates steam sterilizers, checks gauges, and performs simple maintenance.
- Prepares cultures, reviews test packs, interprets results, and completes documentation to assure sterility.
- Checks and adjusts medical equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Decontaminates surgical instruments and equipment following established procedures.
- Receives and stores supplies, checks stock, documents receipts, and maintains inventory levels.
- Documents and fills orders for surgical supplies for patient care areas.
- Maintains records of equipment inventory use and servicing.
- Performs daily quality assurance checks on stock levels, sterility dates, and accuracy of procedure carts.
- Completes critical documentation such as biologicals and sterilizer load sheets.

Required Skills & Certifications:


- Certified Sterile Processor (HSPA or CBSPD)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician
- Hospital/ambulatory experience
- Travel experience (6 months)
- Two professional references from last two assignments

Preferred Skills & Certifications:


- Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER Cert)
- Orthopedic tray experience

Special Considerations:


- Travel assignment

Scheduling:
- Evenings: Monday - Friday
- 12:00 PM - 8:30 PM EST or 1:30 PM - 10:00 PM EST
- 40 hours/week
