We currently seek a full-time Senior Career Coach to join our Youth Services team! The Senior Career Coach will be responsible for conducting intakes, initial skills assessments, providing case management and offering referrals for other Osborne services or to other appropriate programs for the Works Plus Program. Provide Job Readiness Training to young adults and support participants with apprenticeship and internship placement. This position will be based out of our Bronx Office and will report on-site.
Salary Range: $31.86 - $34.07 per hour Essential Duties And Responsibilities - Screen potential participants for program enrollment and orient participants to the program, describing program objectives.
- Conduct initial intake interviews and assessments. Utilize assessment tools to identify support service needs and make immediate referrals.
- Provide participants with an initial service plan of action, working in collaboration with the Workforce Development units, and ensure the delivery of comprehensive support services.
- Track and monitor participant progress. Oversee weekly follow up via telephone, mail correspondence and field visits. Follow up with participants through mentoring and counseling. Meet with participants to address issues, challenges, and successes to strengthen participant’s capacity for long-term self-sufficiency.
- Maintain confidential case records for all participants.
- Document participants’ pre- and post-employment progress in the form of a progress note.
- Maintain contacts with outside agencies to refer or obtain additional participant services.
- Conduct outreach to ensure consistency of participants’ referrals and follow-up outreach telephone calls to prospective participants.
- Conduct collaborative efforts with job development staff to maximize service delivery. Refer participants to job development for subsequent employment.
- Facilitate workshops addressing issues related to work readiness and transition from incarceration, such as Workplace Professionalism, Cognitive Skills and Job Skills Training.
- Participate in ongoing education and professional development through courses, seminars, and other in-service training in the areas of vocational training and services, cultural diversity training, supportive counseling, and workforce.
- Provide monthly service outcomes information and monthly reporting documentation to the program coordinator and program manager for reporting purposes as required by funding agencies.
- Primary resource for apprenticeship and internship placements for participants to succeed in their careers.
- Plan and implement Community Benefit Projects
- Perform all other duties as requested by managerial staff and other duties as required.
Requirements EDUCATION: - Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Public Administration; in lieu of a degree, two additional years of experience
Experience - Minimum two years of each: case management experience, workforce development experience, and group facilitation experience
Relatable Knowledge Or Skill - Knowledge of the following service areas are required: workforce development, criminal justice system, group facilitation, financial literacy, motivational interviewing, cognitive skills training
- Knowledge of Google Suite and other database programs (Salesforce experience preferred).
Key Competencies - Engaging personality and detailed orientated skills are essential.
- Strong oral and written communication, time management, and organizational skills are necessary.
- Knowledge Salesforce, MS Word, Excel, and database management skills.
- Familiarity with community resources.
- Ability to solve problems, make decisions, resolve conflicts and listen.
- Access skills to deal calmly in crisis situations.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively well with diverse groups.
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks effectively under pressure.
