We are currently seeking experienced Scraper Operators to join our team.

Job Summary
The Scraper Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating scraper equipment to move, load, haul, spread, and grade earth materials in support of large-scale earthmoving and site development projects. This role requires precise equipment control, strong awareness of grade and haul conditions, and strict adherence to safety standards. The Scraper Operator works closely with foremen, survey crews, and other equipment operators to ensure production goals, grade tolerances, and project specifications are met on civil, oilfield, and general construction projects in varying outdoor conditions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate self-propelled and/or pull-type scrapers safely and efficiently to cut, load, haul, dump, and spread material.
  • Perform mass earthmoving operations including rough grading, subgrade preparation, and material distribution.
  • Coordinate scraper operations with push tractors, water trucks, graders, and other support equipment.
  • Follow grade stakes, GPS systems, plans, and instructions to achieve required elevations and slopes.
  • Maintain safe haul roads, observe traffic flow patterns, and adjust operation based on ground and weather conditions.
  • Conduct and document pre-operation and post-operation inspections, including tires, cutting edges, hydraulics, brakes, and safety systems.
  • Perform basic maintenance such as greasing, cleaning, checking fluids, and reporting wear or damage.
  • Operate equipment safely around ground personnel, utilities, and other machinery using radios or hand signals.
  • Monitor equipment performance and immediately report mechanical issues, unsafe conditions, or production concerns.
  • Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and required training.
  • Complete daily equipment logs, inspection forms, and production documentation accurately and on time.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies, site-specific rules, and applicable regulations (OSHA, DOT, MSHA, and manufacturer guidelines).
  • Assist with operating other equipment as assigned.
  • Assist with related labor or support tasks when scraper operation is not required.
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated experience operating scraper equipment safely and productively.
  • Strong understanding of haul road conditions, material types, and loading techniques.
  • Ability to maintain grade awareness and consistent material spread.
  • High level of situational awareness with a strong commitment to safety.
  • Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively with foremen and crew members.
  • Ability to identify hazards and adapt operation to changing site conditions.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and consistent attendance.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-based operation.
  • Willingness and ability to learn and operate additional equipment as required by project needs.
  • Ability to instruct, coach, and support other employees in safe and efficient equipment operation.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of scraper or heavy equipment operating experience preferred; experience on large earthwork or oilfield projects is a plus.
Certifications and Licenses
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to obtain PEC/SafeLand, First Aid/CPR, H2S, MSHA, and any other site-specific training requirements.
Work Environment
  • Work performed outdoors on construction and oilfield job sites in varying weather conditions.
  • Exposure to dust, mud, noise, vibration, moving equipment, and uneven terrain.
  • Travel to remote or rural job sites is required and may include overnight stays.
  • Required use of PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility clothing, gloves, steel-toe boots, and hearing protection.
Physical Demands
  • Prolonged periods of sitting while operating scraper equipment.
  • Frequent climbing on and off equipment using steps and handholds.
  • Ability to lift, carry, or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and foot movements to operate controls.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, and work on uneven ground as needed.
  • Ability to tolerate vibration, noise, dust, and outdoor conditions for extended periods.
Schedule
  • Monday through Friday, typically 10–12-hour shifts, depending on project needs.
  • Overtime, night shifts, and weekend work may be required to meet production and maintenance demands.
