Job Description

Position Summary:

The Ride Observer/Checker primary functions are to ride pre-scheduled trips within the Fixed Route service area and to record and report ridership information collected while riding the various routes.

This position will also assist in analyzing key data regarding ridership trends. In this role you will obtain schedule of National Transportation Data (NTD) trips for the week, ride the scheduled trips and properly record data on provided NTD forms, turn in the completed NTD forms for data entry into database. After your ride, you will report any concerns including, but not limited to; lay-over and bus stops for cleanliness and damage, safety violations and coach conditions.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, & Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and valid driver's license required .
• Must be able to work flexible hours.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

• Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
• Knowledge of the local bus routes and the vicinity.
• The ability to learn to operate a two-way radio.
