Jr Accountant Location: Rockville, MD Schedule: Hybrid (2 Days Onsite) Duration: 12 Months with Option to Extend Salary: Negotiable Send Resumes to: Criss Brient - cbrient@altaits.com Overview: Our local County Government client is seeking an entry-level Accountant/Auditor to join the Internal Audit Team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who is eager to learn through on-the-job training and gain exposure to government accounting and auditing practices. Key Responsibilities: + Assist in preparing and updating audit plans and workpapers under the guidance of senior staff. + Support risk assessment activities by gathering data and documenting findings. + Perform basic reconciliations of accounts and assist with financial analysis tasks. + Help draft audit summaries and periodic reports for management review. + Participate in internal control reviews and document recommendations provided by senior auditors. + Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with County policies and procedures. + Provide administrative and research support for special projects as assigned. Education & Qualifications: + Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required). + CPA eligibility or interest in pursuing certification (preferred but not required). + 0-2 years of experience in accounting or auditing (internship experience counts). + Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn new systems and processes. + Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with ERP systems (Oracle EBS experience is a plus).
