Job Description

Job Summary

AGC is seeking a motivated and analytical Industrial Engineer to join our dynamic team. The primary focus of this role is to analyze and optimize our manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve overall operational efficiency. The successful candidate will lead key initiatives aimed at improving product flow, optimizing material handling equipment, maximizing floorspace utilization, and ensuring best-in-class inventory accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Flow Optimization:

  • - Conduct detailed analyses of current production workflows using methodologies like Value Stream Mapping, time studies, and process simulation to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.

    • Design and implement streamlined processes and material handling solutions to create a seamless and efficient flow of materials and products from receiving to shipping.
    • Collaborate with production, logistics, and quality assurance teams to champion and implement lean manufacturing principles, reducing cycle times and work-in-process (WIP) inventory.
  • Material Handling & Forklift Fleet Optimization:

  • - Analyze material handling equipment usage, including forklift fleet data, to optimize routes, reduce idle time, and minimize traffic congestion.

    • Develop and implement strategies to improve fleet utilization, enhance operator efficiency, and reduce overall material handling costs while ensuring a safe operating environment.
    • Use data analysis to justify fleet size, equipment type, and charging/maintenance schedules to support production needs effectively.
  • Floorspace Utilization:

  • - Perform comprehensive assessments of the current plant layout, including production lines, warehousing, and support areas, to identify opportunities for space optimization.

    • Develop and model new facility layouts using CAD software to improve ergonomics, reduce material travel distances, and increase capacity within the existing footprint.
    • Lead cross-functional projects to reconfigure workstations, storage racks, and assembly lines, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
  • Inventory Accuracy and Management:

  • - Partner with the supply chain and warehouse teams to optimize storage strategies, define appropriate inventory levels, and implement material replenishment systems such as Kanban or VMI (Vendor-Managed Inventory).

  • Continuous Improvement & Data Analysis:

  • - Identify, lead, and support continuous improvement projects using Kaizen, Six Sigma, and other problem-solving methodologies.

    • Establish, monitor, and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to process efficiency, space utilization, and inventory control to demonstrate improvement and guide future initiatives.
    • Prepare and deliver clear, concise reports and presentations to management and stakeholders on project progress, outcomes, and financial impact.

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing engineering role, with a demonstrated track record of successful process improvement projects.
  • Strong proficiency in lean manufacturing principles (e.g., 5S, Waste Reduction, Just-In-Time, VSM) and their practical application.
  • Hands-on experience with facility layout, process design, and material handling systems analysis, including proficiency with 2D/3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
  • Excellent analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, cross-functional environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with ERP/WMS systems (e.g., SAP).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent experience managing complex projects.
  • Experience in the glass manufacturing, automotive, or similar process-driven industry.
  • Advanced skills in process simulation software (e.g., Arena, FlexSim).
