Job Description and Duties

This position is located in the city of Albany .

The Orientation Center for the Blind (OCB) in Albany, CA is a 24 hour, 7 days a week residential facility providing independent living skills and pre-vocational training services to adults who are blind/visually impaired.

Under general supervision of the Cook Specialist I or II, the Food Services Technician I will perform general cooking support duties in OCB's cafeteria facility, providing a professional, helpful and friendly service standard during service of meals to OCB participants, staff, and visitors. As assigned, assists with the following: prepares and serves food and beverages, cleans and maintains food service equipment, and works with OCB participant helpers as part of their internship program, and performs other related work as needed. Will label in Braille and large print for meals and pantry items.

Working Conditions

Permanent Intermittent Positions:

Permanent Intermittent employees are not allowed to work more than 1500 hours in a calendar year. The anticipated time worked will be (insert hours) hours per week. If selected, the employee will receive an hourly compensation based on the number of hours worked.

Free from communicable diseases with an awareness of basic hygiene, and the ability to conduct yourself with integrity and professionalism in a manner consistent with DOR policies and CalHR regulations. Able to work a flexible schedule which may include weekends and holidays. Knowledgeable of labeling techniques used by blind individuals.
