The Epic Unified Communications (UC) Analyst is responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and support of communication-related workflows within the Epic platform—primarily leveraging features such as Secure Chat, In Basket, Rover messaging, Haiku/Canto messaging, and integrated communication tools. This role ensures that clinicians, care teams, and operational staff can communicate efficiently and securely across the health system using Epic’s unified communication capabilities.
The analyst collaborates closely with clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders to understand communication needs, translate them into Epic configuration, maintain system stability, and drive improvements that enhance patient care and staff experience.
Configure, maintain, and optimize Epic Secure Chat, In Basket pools, message routing rules, and user templates.
Support workflows for clinician-to-clinician, clinician-to-staff, and staff-to-staff communication.
Coordinate build and maintenance of provider records, role-based defaults, on-call schedules, and message distribution lists.
Ensure compliance with security and privacy regulations in all communication workflows.
Assess current-state communication workflows and identify gaps, inefficiencies, or risks.
Develop future-state workflows that improve communication speed, clarity, and reliability.
Work directly with clinical and operational leaders to ensure solutions align with real-world needs.
Provide Tier 2/3 support for issues related to Epic messaging, Secure Chat, In Basket, and mobile communication tools.
Perform root-cause analysis for recurring communication issues and implement long-term solutions.
Partner with IT teams to resolve interoperability issues between Epic and third-party communication systems.
Participate in system upgrades, new feature implementations, and optimization initiatives.
Assist with change management activities including testing, training support, documentation, and stakeholder communication.
Support go-lives and workflow rollouts related to communication technologies.
Maintain detailed documentation of build objects, standards, and configuration decisions.
Ensure adherence to organizational governance structures and Epic best practices.
Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to Epic communication tools.
