Job Description

Eastern Greene Schools is seeking a dependable and energetic Night Shift Custodian to join our operations team. This full-time, year-round position plays a vital role in ensuring that our school buildings and grounds remain clean, safe, and welcoming for students, staff, and visitors.

Custodians work both independently and as part of a team to complete daily cleaning tasks, assist with event setups, and support school operations. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, shows attention to detail, and maintains a positive attitude.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Prior custodial or maintenance experience preferred
• Ability to work independently and follow cleaning protocols
• Must be able to safely operate custodial equipment and use cleaning chemicals
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, hazard-free environment

Job Goals

• Maintain clean, safe, and orderly buildings and grounds across school facilities
• Support the daily operational needs of the school and respond to special requests as needed
• Create a welcoming environment for students, staff, and the community

Expectations

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, classrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and perform other routine custodial tasks
• Set up or break down spaces for events and school activities
• Safely handle cleaning materials and maintain equipment
• Remove trash and recycling from designated areas
• Assist with minor maintenance or repair work as assigned
• Respond to emergencies or special cleaning requests when needed
• Perform other duties as assigned by custodial supervisor or administration
