JOB OVERVIEW :

The Burn Center at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center (formerly Saint Barnabas Medical Center) is the only state-certified burn treatment facility in New Jersey, and one of the largest in North America. With 12 intensive care beds and an 18-bed step-down unit for less critically injured patients. The Burn Center provides expert care for patients of all ages. We are seeking a New Jersey licensed Registered Nurse as a Burn Registrar & Quality Improvement Analyst. To maintain the hospital’s Burn Registry by collecting, correlating, analyzing and inputting data into the computerized registry. This role ensures accurate data collection, supports quality compliance initiatives, and contributes to research for the Burn Center. The position also involves monitoring and analyzing clinical indicators to drive performance improvement.

QUALIFICATION :

  • Current and active New Jersey RN licensure is required.
  • Bachelor Degree preferred.
  • Complete American Burn Association (ABA) registry database training

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES REQUIRED :

  • Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License

REQUIRED :

  • Proficient with computer use and data entry required.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills to interpret complex data and devise effective quality improvement strategies
  • Experience in database management and a high level of comfort with software like Excel, which is essential for data collection and reporting
  • Experience with clinical quality improvement or performance improvement preferred
  • Experience as a Registered Nurse in Burn, ICU, or trauma required
  • Knowledge of ABA standards and Burn Registry processes preferred.
  • Attend American Burn Association registry related meetings
  • Monitor and analyze Quality Improvement indicators: infection rates, morbidity, mortality, etc.  Lead weekly/monthly QI meetings. Identify trends and opportunities for improvement and develop action plans with the burn leadership team.
  • Review EMR and abstract data for the ABA registry.  Maintain data accuracy and completeness.  Ensure timely entry for internal and external reporting.  Prepare reports and scorecards for internal review and regulatory compliance.  Support data submission to the ABA National Burn Repository and preparation for verification site visits.
  • Monitor and analyze QI indicators: infection rates, morbidity, mortality, etc.  Lead weekly/monthly QI meetings. Identify trends and opportunities for improvement and develop action plans with the burn leadership team.
  • Support investigators with data requests for studies or publications.  Participate in hospital-wide QI initiatives and represent the burn unit on system committees when needed.
  • Educate nursing and clinical staff on quality metrics, documentation standards, and best practices.  Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the burn unit.
  • Successful completion of all Orientation requirements of Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center (CBMC)
